Abstract
The Term Bibliometrics was coined by Alan Pritchard - he defined the term as "the application of mathematical and statistical method to book and other media of communication". What is measured are not the physical properties or documents but statistical patterns in variables such as authorship, sources, subjects, geographical origins and citations.
